About Me
There are many things that I could say about myself, to try to help you better understand me, but I don’t know if it will really help you understand why I think the way that I do. But here are a few of the most pertinent facts.
I was born in June of 1963, placing me at what has become known as the end of the Baby Boom Generation. And yet I look at my fellow “Boomers” and feel that I have not a lot in common with them. So I look to the next generation, Gen-X I believe, to see if I fit in there better. (maybe I was just born too early) But alas, I do not fit there as well. So, I classify myself as a “tween”, sandwiched between two generations that I feel no connection to. An outsider, looking in – so to speak.
So, what are my interests?
- I like reading, having read all of the Harry Potter books, as well as all of the books in the Left Behind series. Other series that I have enjoyed include the Thomas Covenant series, and the Ender series.
- I like movies, my favorite genres being action and comedy. Some of my favorite movies include the Harry Potter series, the Rush Hour series, 5th Element, the Indiana Jones series, the Star Wars series, and the Star Trek series.
- I have a “love – hate” relationship with the great outdoors. As long as I am doing something, then doing it outside is fine. However, I do not like yardwork, but it does have to be done. I do not participate in sports, but I have in the past, and do not rule it our for the future. But that would probably entail me losing quite a bit of weight, and finding some friends that would welcome me to the activities. The one thing that I am looking forward to is learning how to sail. (www.sv-reboot.com) After that I hope to purchase a sailboat, and move aboard, eventually leading to a life at sea traveling to various ports all around the world.
- I like television. Probably a bit too much. So yes, you can expect to see information on my television likes and dislikes here. I worry about the programming choices on the networks. I still do not understand why, after the success of The West Wing, they gave up on Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip so early, and eventually canceled it. A lot of the “reality” shows that are broadcast now are trash, and are probably just a result of having so many channel choices and not enough programming to fill them. I do like Survivor, the Apprentice, and American Idol. Most of the others either started good and went downhill or were never any good to begin with. The first season of Last Comic Standing was, in my opinion, the best. The Sci-Fi channel is doing some good programming. I have enjoyed Stargate SG-1 and Atlantis, as well as Dr. Who, Painkiller Jane and Battlestar Galactica.
- In July of 2007 I purchased a 2006 Ford Escape Hybrid. I choose this particular vehicle because of the type of engine system it uses. My driving is mostly in town, and I get better mileage in town than on the highway.
- More personal information needed? Ok. I am single, divorced actually, and have no kids.
However, I do have a cat who has had one kidney shut down and requires twice weekly fluid treatments to keep his blood from becoming toxic. In September 2007, I had to say goodbye to Shadow. (More) I’m fat, I know it, and I have accepted the fact that I do not have the ambition, will power, or tenacity to do anything about it. I like my food, and I enjoy my sedentary life style. Of course this is subject to change as time goes by. - I enjoy photography. And my current day job allows me to explore this somewhat. As a “Web Production Artist” I am tasked with photographing product for the company’s website, creating graphics to be used on the site, and also updating the code of the website when something goes awry. Occasionally I get to leave the confines of the office and go out to a photo shoot in the field. I hope to be able to start taking more pictures for myself and perhaps offering them on the multitude of stock photography sites that are out there.
- I am a Christian, with all the good and bad that label entails. I try not to judge other people, but I do believe that in order for a person to spend eternity in Heaven with God, that they must accept Jesus as their personal Saviour. (my statement of faith)
