Counting Today As A Good Day

February 4th, 2010

That is exactly how I look at today. While it was mostly just like any other day, one of my coworkers came in and shared some good news. And since I had a hand in the good news coming about, it brightened my day, at least for a little while.

Here is the back story. On January 22nd, my coworker shared with my boss that she had lost her Jack Russel Terrier “Nina”. Nina was about 8 years old, so of course the family was quite fond of her, and she was sorely missed. They had been out in the neighborhood looking for Nina and had had no luck. Well, my boss suggested that she bring in a picture of Nina, and then I could scan it and put together a flier for her. So for the first little bit on that Saturday, that is what I was working on. It turned out quite good, so we printed off a few for her to post. When I see her again on the following Thursday, there had been no luck in finding Nina.

So it is now a week later, and Nina has been returned. About a week ago someone found her in the middle of a fairly busy multi-lane road, thin, scared, and confused. They took her home, and later happened to see one of the fliers that I had made and was posted in the neighborhood. They called the number, and Nina was reunited with her family.

Being an animal lover, I am glad that I was able to play some small part in this happy ending. Being alone after so many years of having a faithful companion is still difficult for me, so knowing that someone else still has that joy in their life is a good thing. Life is full of little miracles, when you are open to seeing them.
